Keeping a Media Diary was very interesting because I got to see
what typical programs I like to catch up on online and how often I watch them
and realize how bad and cheesy my usual taste in programs are such as musicals
like Glee and The Vampire Diaries, but realise I still love them. I can't help
going back to the same programs every week at the same time they are too addictive
and I can't wait to see what happens next. I also realized how addicted I can
get to programs as I just started watching a series called Once Upon A Time and
couldn't stop once I'd seen the first episode. It shows exactly the type of
person I am even in the title, that I love fairy tales and fantasy and a good
romance. It's exactly the program I've been looking for I can't believe I've
only just started watching it now, I've always loved Disney princess movies and
stories and this is the perfect series to satisfy my taste with the right
amount of cheese and romance but also the mystery and adventure side to it that
keeps you on edge and unlike films it lasts longer to keep the excitement and
drama going. This week has also made me realize that action is not my favourite
genre, but when in a cinema it does make the experience more exciting and
intriguing on the big screen. However the fight scenes in action films are still
too dragged out for me and it leaves my mind wondering to other places and
thinking I’d rather be spending my time watching a fantasy and or comedy.
Watching The Grand Budapest Hotel made me realize I am very easily pleased and
amused in a comedy even the simple things make me chuckle and smile and when
there's a famous face it does make the film more exciting and intriguing it can’t
be helped, but it does help when their performance is good. I think my media
diary does reflect my gender as it's mainly focused on girly programs that
would probably interest very little boys and men and even older women. My taste
does also reflect my age especially through the sit-coms I watch, I think they
would probably only be enjoyed by people my age as they reflect on younger/ 20 something’s
issue rather than middle aged and married. I think my blog is different in a
way in that I'm an older teenager who's not embarrassed or afraid to say she
enjoys watching cheesy programs and films and doesn't just enjoy the things
that everyone loves and watches (but I do love The Walking Dead). I don't think
there are enough reviews and blogs on typical girl programs like Pretty Little
Liars and Vampire Diaries apart from describing basically what happened and
what might happened next or criticisms. I think I can contribute to the
blogging world and tell people what I’m really thinking about my favourite
programs and try and show people how good they can be and tempt other types of
people into watching them.
